About the Artist
Marilyn Davidson is an internationally recognized artist working in painting and sculpture. She was the founder of Davidson Pivot, a contemporary art gallery based in New York, recently closed during the Covid 19 shutdown.
She has taught at Syracuse University, and as a visiting lecturer at Penland School, Chatauqua Institution, and art colleges in Europe. Numerous international exhibitions of her work have been held in New York, Germany, England, Yugoslavia, Australia, and Mexico, and her work has been represented and reviewed in Arts Magazine, The New York Art Review, Interior Design Magazine, The New York Times, NY Magazine and House & Garden, among others. Her work is represented in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Twentieth Century Collection, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute, the Everson Museum of Art and numerous other collections, public and private. She has collaborated in many aspects of the art world, developing design programs in partnership with curators at the American Museum of Natural History, The Jewish Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and others. Her design firm of twenty years has created design icons across many categories, from the functional to the aesthetic. Marilyn Davidson, a New York native, lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. |
